If you love this salad, you may love this classic too! Pistachio salad has been a holiday staple for many people and it looks great on the table too.

❤️WHY WE LOVE THIS RECIPE

This strawberry salad is one of our favorites. It’s a great addition to any meal and super easy to make. I double it for large gatherings because it never lasts long. The pecans and the pretzels go so well together and it’s wonderful for any holiday meal. Looks festive on the table and it’s delicious. Only a handful of simple ingredients and you can throw this side dish together in no time.

🍴KEY INGREDIENTS

  • Pretzels
  • Butter
  • Pecans
  • Brown sugar
  • White Sugar
  • Strawberries
  • Cream cheese
  • Vanilla
  • Cool Whip

SWAPS

You can swap out the Cool Whip and make your own, but we use the store-bought since it makes it so simple. You can also use gluten-free pretzels to make this a gluten-free dish. I don’t think they get as crispy, but they are still good.

🍽️HOW TO MAKE

This strawberry praline salad is very easy to make, and the longest part of the process is making the praline mixture.

PREPARATIONS

The only prep work is ensuring the cream cheese is at room temperature, and the cool whip has chilled in the fridge.

COOKING STEPS

Step 1
Preheat oven to 400 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Combine melted butter, pretzels, brown sugar and pecan in a bowl. Once mixed, spread evenly on baking pan and bake for 6 minutes until golden brown. Let cool.

Step 2
In a bowl, combine white sugar, cream cheese, vanilla and cool whip. Mix with mixer until well combined.

Step 3
Fold in strawberries and break up the pretzel mixture and fold in as well. You can set some aside to garnish on top for decoration. Serve cold. I let chill in the fridge for a few hours.

⭐TIP

Once I make up the praline mixture and it has cooked, I will set the entire sheet in the fridge so it cools and hardens faster. If making this in advance, I like to make the cream cheese mixture and fruit in a bowl and then add the praline mixture before serving. However, I have eaten this many times the day after and it’s still delicious.

❓FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Does this get soggy if you make it the day before?

I haven’t had it get soggy but if your strawberries are overly ripe it may.

Can I use low-fat cream cheese?

Yes, I have made it with the 1/3 fat cream cheese and never noticed a difference.

STORING

I store in an air-tight container in the fridge and it’s best served right out of the fridge.
